Dennis is nationally well known as George Carlin's special guest star for over 18 years on tour. He was discovered by Rodney Dangerfield, co-wrote the hit movie Easy Money has appeared on Letterman, the Tonight Show and has won an Emmy Award for writing the animated film Confessions of a Standup.

With his guitar, a plethora of voices and characters, and a slightly depraved sense of humor, Dennis became an immediate hit on the comedy circuit and won the Charlie Award for "Best Standup Comedian in New York." Within a few short months, Rodney Dangerfield made him his protégé, and, together, they toured the United States and Canada for over three years.

It was during this time that Dennis conceived and co-wrote Rodney's hit movie Easy Money, in which he played two cameo roles. He also co-wrote and was a featured actor in two Dangerfield specials on ABC and was the creative consultant for the album Rappin' Rodney, for which he co-wrote the title tune and was nominated for a Grammy. He also wrote and performed the song Ordinary Man, which appears on the Easy Money soundtrack album.

After Rodney, Dennis has been steering that crooked sense of humor in a variety of vehicles. His TV appearances include Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher and The Drew Carey Show. He won an Emmy for writing an providing the voices for the animated film Confessions of a Standup, which chronicles his career as a comedian.

He has a book, Me First, about his experiences opening for some of the most famous celebrities in show business. He has released two standup comedy CD's, Live Performance Anxiety, and Words, Music and Drunks as well as an album of original songs called I Sleep Naked in the Rain. He has also dabbled in theater, starring in Los Angeles in his self-penned, one-man musical comedy entitled Also Appearing…, about the ups and downs of his career as an opening act.
